Qatar Quran Contest: 1st Round Concludes

TEHRAN (IQNA) – The first round of Qatar’s national Quran competition in the men’s sections came to an end on Wednesday.

This round began on Sunday, November 11, in Doha in the category of memorization of the entire Quran, al-Arab al-Yawm news website reported.

The first round of women’s section of the competition got underway on Saturday and wrapped up Tuesday.

Some 1,600 Qataris and expatriates took part in the first round of the event.

This year’s is the 25^th edition of the contest, known as Sheikh Jasim bin Muhammad Thani Quran Award.

It is aimed at promoting memorization and recitation of the Quran and contemplating its teachings.

Qatar’s Awqaf and Islamic Affairs Ministry annually organizes the contest.
