TEHRAN (IQNA) – The King Fahd Complex for the Printing of the Holy Quran in Medina, Saudi Arabia, plans to organize an international competition on Kitabat Al-Quran (Quranic calligraphy).

Dubbed Mushaf al-Muasis, it is aimed at identifying top talents in the field of Quranic calligraphy, al-Yaum.com website reported.

Highlighting the efforts and creativity of contemporary Quranic calligraphers is also among the objectives of the event.

The international contest also provides an opportunity for calligraphers from around the world to exchange experiences and ideas.

Quranic calligraphy is a common art in the Muslim world.

The first development of Arabic calligraphy started with the first written version of the Quran in Arabia in the 7th century AD.
