Titled “Be a Queen in hijab”, the initiative has been launched by Assia Belha, founder and president of the Muslim Women's Movement in Italy.
Running under the slogan “Be a role model”, the competition seeks to address the challenges faced by Muslim girls in the face of the rising wave of removing the veil or considering it a barrier to achieving success or integrating into non-Muslim societies, Echoroukonline reported.
The competition also aims to consolidate the true meaning of the veil which is an Islamic dress that nations must cherish.
This will be the first edition of the event in Italy and all veiled girls aged between 14 and 25 residing in the country can participate in the competition.
Apart from the criteria of the girls’ beauty, the jury will rely on specific and well-studied criteria, including the criterion of commitment, to choose a winner that deserves to be a role model.
No date or deadline for the competition has been announced yet.
The winner will be announced in a ceremony and will be awarded an Umrah.
