TEHRAN (IQNA) – Rallies are planned to be staged across Iran on Friday to mark the National Day of Fight against Global Arrogance.

They will be held here in the capital Tehran and in 900 other cities and towns in the country.

Iranian President Ebrahim Raeisi will address the rally in Tehran.

Some 3,500 Iranian and foreign journalists, photojournalists and cameramen will cover the events.

There will be other programs on the occasion, including an international conference titled “21st Century, A World Free of US Domination”, some 200 student forums with the theme of fighting the global arrogance, and an arts festival.

Friday is the anniversary of the US embassy seizure in Tehran, which marks the Day of Fighting Global Arrogance.

On November 4, 1979, less than a year after the victory of the Islamic Revolution that toppled a US-backed monarchy, Iranian university students who called themselves “students following the line of (the late) Imam (Khomeini)’ seized the US embassy in Tehran, which had become a center of espionage and planning to overthrow the newly established Islamic system in Iran.

The students who seized the embassy later published documents proving that the compound was indeed engaged in plans and measures to overthrow the Islamic Republic.

Every year on the 13th day of the Iranian month of Aban (November 4), the Iranian nation, especially students, hold rallies across the country to mark the day.
