Iranian Memorizer Happy with Performance at 39th Int’l Quran Competition

TEHRAN (IQNA) – Iran’s representative in the memorization category of the women section in the 39th International Holy Quran Competition of the Islamic Republic of Iran said she is content with her performance at the event.

Hajar Mehralian went on to the stage on Sunday to showcase her Quran memorization skills.

“Thank God I had a good recitation,” she told IQNA. “I hope I will be among the winners and make my family happy.”

Asked about the level of her rivals, she said not many other memorizers have so far done their performance and it is easy to judge them but all in all the level of the competition seems to be high.

Mehralian also stressed that a Quran memorizer should make efforts to review verses of the Quran everyday to enhance the quality of her or his memorization.

The inauguration ceremony of Iran’s 39th International Holy Quran Competition was held Saturday afternoon concurrent with Eid al-Maba’ath (marking the appointment of Prophet Muhammad (PBUH) as the last messenger of God).

A total of 52 participants from 33 countries vie in the final round of the event. The competitions of men’s categories are staged on February 19-21 from 3:30 to 9:00 PM, local time, while the women’s categories are held on February 19-20 from 9:00 AM to 12:00 PM, local time.

The categories include memorization, recitation and Tarteel for men and memorization and Tarteel for women.

Born in 1991 in the central city of Isfahan, Mehralian holds a BA in law, She teachers at a number of Jamiat-ul-Quran Institute’s branches.

She represented Iran in Jordan’s international Quran competition for women in 2015, where she came 5th in the category of memorization of the entire Quran.
