Photo Exhibition in Cairo to Feature Russian Muslims’ Customs

IQNA – An exhibition of photos featuring the customs of Muslims in Russia is planned to be mounted in Cairo, the capital of Egypt.

Murad Gatin, director of Russia’s cultural centers in Egypt, will launch the expo this Friday, al-Usbu website reported. 

The exhibition will be organized under the supervision of the Russia Muslims’ Religious Affairs Department and the Muftiat Council of Russia.

A delegation of officials from the department and the council, as well as Russia’s Muslim figures and artists will take part in the inauguration ceremony.

Activities of Russia’s Muslims in such fields as handicrafts, holding Quran competitions, and organizing Quranic courses are among the themes of the exhibition’s photos.   

One of the photos features Russian President Vladimir Putin visiting the historical Juma Mosque in Derbent, the Republic of Dagestan, last year.

During the visit, a Quran was gifted to the Russian president.

Gatin said the expo will provide an opportunity for getting familiar with the cultural and historical heritage of the Muslims of Russia.
