Islamic Unity Prerequisite for Building New Islamic Civilization: Cleric

TEHRAN (IQNA) – A senior Iranian cleric says that achieving Islamic unity is a prerequisite for building a new Islamic civilization.

 

Secretary General of the World Forum for Proximity of Islamic Schools of Thought (WFPIST) Hojat-ol-Islam Hamid Shahriari made the remarks on Tuesday while addressing the second Regional Islamic Unity Conference in Golestan Province, north of Iran.

“Achieving a unified Islamic Ummah is a multi-layer endeavor which demands Islamic Madhhabs avoid internal conflicts and Takfir,” he said.

Islam is based on peace and Muslims should prevent any war or terror among themselves, he said.

“If we successfully prevent the beginning layers then the first step is taken towards the proximity of Islamic Madhhabs although there is still a long way to materialize new Islamic civilization,” added the cleric.

The world's arrogant powers are in pursuit of inciting war among Saudis, Turks, Azeris and all Islamic ethnicities, he said, adding “therefore, we should avoid any conflict in the world of Islam and move towards the prevalence of just peace.”

The international meeting is participated by prominent Shia and Sunni scholars from Iran, Kazakhstan, Russia, Kyrgyzstan and Turkmenistan.

Earlier on the day, Shahriari attended a press conference, saying that these events are being held to confront the content efforts of world arrogant powers to promote Shiaphobia and Iranophobia.

He said that an international Islamic unity conference will also be held in Iraq.

Speaking about the event in Golestan Province, Shahriari said that 20 speakers from Iran and other countries will deliver speeches.

“The Regional Islamic Unity Conferences are especially held in the provinces inhabited by different ethnicities,” he added.
