IQNA – Saudi Arabia’s ambassador to Iran hailed the Islamic Republic’s international Quran contest as very important and valuable.

Saudi Ambassador to Iran Abdullah bin Saud al-Anzi speaking to IQNA

Ambassador Abdullah bin Saud al-Anzi visited the venue of Iran’s 40th International Quran Competition at the Tehran Summit Hall on Saturday evening.

He watched the performance of the Saudi contender as well as those from Lebanon, Palestine and a number of other Muslim countries.

As instructed by the panel of judges, the Saudi qari recited Verses 21 and 22 of Surah An-Nur:

“Believers, do not follow in the steps of satan, for those who follow the steps of satan, he bids to indecency and dishonor. But for the bounty of Allah to you, and His Mercy no one of you would ever have been purified; but Allah purifies whom He will; Allah is the Hearer, the Knower. Do not let those of you who possess bounty and plenty swear not to give kinsmen, and the poor, and those who emigrate in the way of Allah. Let them pardon and forgive. Do you not yearn that Allah forgives you? And Allah is the Forgiver, the Most Merciful.”

Asked by IQNA about his assessment of the Quranic event later, the Saudi ambassador described the international Quran competition of Iran as "very important and valuable."

Al-Anzi added that the participation of Saudi Arabia’s representative is in line with the appreciation of the significance of the competition.
